Lync Server License package
To deploy Lync Server 2013 you need:
- Lync Server license
- Lync Client license
- Client Access Licenses (CALs) for each user accessing Lync. There are three CALs for Lync Server:
- – Lync Standard CAL offers instant messaging (IM), rich presence (P), one-to-one audio and video communication, internal Lynс meetings; Skype connectivity.
- – Lync Enterprise CAL offers Lync meetings, including audio, video and web conferencing features.
- – Lync Plus CAL offers enterprise voice features and call management.
CALs are available on a standalone basis, or along with other Microsoft products in the Core CAL or Enterprise CAL (ECAL) Suites.

Open Value Licensing (OVL) lets you spread payments over three-year agreement term. After the term, you become the owner of perpetual licenses and have the option to extend Software Assurance (SA), which provides free upgrades to newer versions during the period of agreement.

Open Value Subscription (OVS) is a three-year agreement that lets you rent Microsoft Software for the license period after which the agreement can be renewed. OVS Also comes with Software assurance (SA) which provides free upgrades to newer versions during the period of agreement.
